Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos, politician and educator of the XVIII century («the Spanish bad time» as it was defined by one of our philosophers) was a man who was ahead of many theoreticians and relevant men of his time. However, nowadays he is nearly forgotten. We admire Jovellanos because of his patriotism, honesty, and responsibility. Jovellanos was a great thinker, a man of action, a jurist and an academic.
