Presently, music therapy is primarily used in a few specific areas, including education, in Spain. However, the existence of training programmes and centres dedicated to this type of therapy has facilitated its expansion into other fields where new complementary and alternative therapies are needed, not only in education but also in healthcare and social work. Currently, there is a programme being developed at the Municipal School of Music in the city of San Martin de la Vega, Spain. This programme illustrates how a playful therapy with an aesthetic component like music can improve integration and enhance the physical, psychological, and emotional well-being of individuals.
