Cognitive and Expressive Creativity in Teacher Education: An Exploratory Study on the Relationship Between the CREA Test and Collage Production

Creativity is an essential competency in teacher education,
although its assessment presents significant methodological
challenges. This exploratory and correlational
study aims to analyze the possible relationship between
cognitive creativity, assessed using the CREA Test, and
expressive creativity, evaluated through collages created
by 146 students in the Primary Education degree program.
Quantitative procedures for descriptive and correlational
analysis were applied. The results show low to medium
levels of creativity in both dimensions, with no significant
correlation between them. These findings suggest the need
to approach creativity from a multidimensional perspective,
integrating diverse assessment methods that consider both
cognitive and symbolic-emotional aspects. Pedagogical implications
for curriculum design in initial teacher education
are highlighted.
